Students write two program proposals for COHI in June

By Karen Manikowski

As a graduate student from Boston University of Public Health (BUSPH) I am very thankful for the experience I had working with COHI. From May 23 - June 03 as part of course curriculum 10 BUSPH worked closely with COHI to develop programming and compose grant proposals. The proposals built upon the established foundational presence in Fond Parisien, Haiti and addressed issues surrounding gender-based violence and reproductive health in the region. Although intense and challenging, I felt this experience to be amazingly educational and afforded us the opportunity to collaborate with an organization hat is truly dedicated to public health and welfare.

Want to get involved? Consider traveling with COHI to Haiti from the 20-27th of August!

Join COHI in a once of a lifetime experience to provide volunteers the opportunity to give back to Haitian communities devastated by the earthquake in 2010. As part of this effort, volunteers will assist COHI in providing needed medical supplies, reaching out to local communities, training Haitian clinic staff, and organizing a community soccer tournament to promote the prevention of violence against women. In addition to all of these tasks, volunteers will also have the opportunity to explore Haiti's natural beauty, a side of Haiti that is rarely seen.
