Employment: Public Relations Coordinator

MISSION: To support the empowerment of conflict, post-conflict, and disaster-affected women through the provision of comprehensive women’s health services.

BACKGROUND: COHI is looking for a Volunteer Public Relations Coordinator for 5-10 hours per week. This position has flexible hours and is ideal for someone who is computer and word savvy, who is looking for a way to be part of COHI’s growing team.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Edit and approve all COHI communications including press releases, web updates and newsletters
  • Oversee the coordination of COHI’s monthly e-newsletter and prepare for distribution, working closely with IT support staff for optimal use of web based communications
  • Submit timely and pertinent content updates for COHI’s website and outreach documents
  • Draft and edit press releases for distribution to local and national media outlets
  • Uphold the look, feel and voice of COHI communications
  • Prepare monthly board updates on public relations activities
  • Update content on COHI’s social media sites
  • Develop plans for COHI’s public relation efforts with measurable objectives
  • Communicate regularly with COHI’s Executive Director, staff and volunteers

 

This commitment requires a one-year, 12-month, commitment of 5+ hours a week. This is an unpaid, volunteer position.

Our ideal candidate is someone with experience or an interest in communications and writing. We’re looking for someone with an editing eye, a creative spirit, and an organized mind to keep COHI’s communications frequent and engaging.

We encourage all individuals with interest in joining the COHI family to communicate directly with other members of the COHI family to learn more about the subtle ins and outs of our work. We also encourage you to familiarize yourself with the basic tenets of international reproductive health, grassroots community organizing, and the feminist model of leadership, as these are the fundamental ideas behind the work COHI does and the way we function as an organization.
