COHI conducts a comprehensive assessment of each sector of
Israel and the West Bank's diverse populations
Violence against women in Israel and Palestine continues to increase daily due to the continued violence in the region. Women in both communities are experiencing gender-based violence (GBV) in record numbers. It is well documented that conflict-affected women often experience higher rates of GBV, especially domestic violence, as their communities are threatened or face upheaval, and gender roles are challenged. Additionally, immigrant and displaced or refugee women also experience increased rates of personal violence, but have even fewer resources available to them for protection and recourse.
In the summer of 2007, COHI conducted a comprehensive gender-based violence assessment of each sector of Israel and the West Bank's diverse populations. COHI and its partners look forward to using the assessment's findings to advocate for better programming to address the needs of Israeli and Palestinian women, and conflict-affected women worldwide. Through this assessment, COHI also seeks to empower women and their communities while addressing issues of violence and conflict. |
