Greetings from Haiti, COHI friends and supporters! Our team here is hard at work, and we wanted to share a bit of our most recent success with you:
The Haitian Midwives COHI is supporting are hard at work with an improved schedule for pre- and post-natal visits, helping to address the most common cause for maternal morbidity: a lack of screening and follow-up around childbirth. COHI has also led the charge in supervising the supply, delivery, and implementation of supplies for the next six months!
COHI conducted a critical Gender-Based Violence (GBV) sensitivity training for local staff, including the preparation of a referral chain. Sadly, this was needed for the first time in one of COHI's sponsored clinics when a 14 year old rape survivor presented recently. Thanks to COHI's work around the issues pertaining to security for women, the clinic staff was equipped to support this courageous young woman both clinically and emotionally.
COHI, through donations of supplies from UNFPA, have provided "dignity kits" to women in the Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camps COHI is serving. These kits include items such as mattresses, soap, and shampoo, ensuring that the basic human right of dignity is maintained.
.
COHI is the only Reproductive Health-focused group in the border region. COHI's teams are working night and day to ensure that the emotional, physical, and clinical health needs of the women of Haiti are a priority for major donors, and that these needs are provided for in local clinics.
These services are a direct result of your generosity, and we cannot continue to provide these life saving services without your continued support. Please share the news of COHI's work in Haiti with your friends, family, and colleagues. Additionally, feel free to make a donation here on COHI's website (

On behalf of the women COHI humbly serves,
